‘বঙ্গবন্ধুর চেতনায় গড়ি মাদকমুক্ত বাংলাদেশ’-এ স্লোগানকে সামনে রেখে বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের ৯৯তম জন্মবার্ষিকী উপলক্ষে আগামী ১৮ মার্চ শুরু হতে যাচ্ছে মাসব্যাপী আন্ত:বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় স্পোর্টস চ্যাম্প-২০১৯।
যুব ও ক্রীড়া মন্ত্রণালয়ের তত্ত্বাবধায়নে চ্যাম্পিয়নশীপের ১০টি ডিসিপ্লিনে ৭০টি পাবলিক ও বেসরকারী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রায় সাড়ে তিনহাজার শিক্ষার্থী অংশ নেবেন। আগামী ১৮ মার্চ শুরু হওয়া মাসব্যাপী চ্যাম্পিয়নশিপে প্রত্যেক ইভেন্টের প্রথম তিনজন বিজয়ীকে স্বর্ণ, রৌপ্য ও ব্রোঞ্জপদক দেয়া হবে। সবচেয়ে বেশি পদকজয়ী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়কে চ্যাম্পিয়ন ট্রফি দেয়া হবে। পরের বছর নতুন চ্যাম্পিয়ন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়কে এই ট্রফি হস্তান্তর করা হবে।
আজ (বুধবার) জাতীয় ক্রীড়া পরিষদের সভাকক্ষে এক সংবাদ সম্মেলনে এসব তথ্য জানান টুর্নামেন্টের উপদেষ্টা কমিটির সভাপতি এবং যুব ও ক্রীড়া প্রতিমন্ত্রী জাহিদ আহসান রাসেল এমপি। এ সময় চ্যাম্পিয়নশিপের উপদেষ্টা কমিটির আহ্বায়ক নাহিম রাজ্জাক এমপি, যুব ও ক্রীড়া মন্ত্রণালয়ের যুগ্ম সচিব ওমর ফারুক, জাতীয় ক্রীড়া পরিষদের সচিব মাসুদ করিম ও অন্যতম পৃষ্ঠপোষক পোলার আইসক্রীমের চিফ অপারেটিং অফিসার শাহ মাসুদ ইমাম উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
টুর্নামেন্টের ডিসিপ্লিনগুলো হলো- ক্রিকেট, ফুটবল, হ্যান্ডবল, সুইমিং, সাইক্লিং, ভলিবল, সাঁতার, অ্যাথলেটিক্স, টেবিল টেনিস ও বাস্কেটবল। বিভিন্ন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের জিমন্যাশিয়ামে খেলাগুলো অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। ফাইনাল খেলা ক্রীড়া পরিষদের ডিসিপ্লিন সংশ্লিষ্ট মাঠে অনুষ্ঠিত হবে।
সংবাদ সম্মেলনে জাহিদ আহসান রাসেল বলেন, ‘যুব সমাজকে খেলাধূলার প্রতি আগ্রহী করে তুলতে ক্রীড়াবান্ধব মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা নানামুখি প্রকল্প হাতে নিয়েছেন। যার প্রতিফলন বঙ্গবন্ধু আন্ত:বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় স্পোর্টস চ্যাম্প। আমরা এই প্রতিযোগিতার মাধ্যমে যুব সমাজকে খেলাধূলার প্রতি আগ্রহী করে তুলবো। সেই সঙ্গে চূড়ান্ত পর্বে বাছাইকৃতদের দীর্ঘমেয়াদী অনুশীলনের ব্যবস্থা করবো।’
উপদেষ্টা কমিটির আহ্বায়ক নাহিম রাজ্জাক বলেন, ‘তরুন সমাজকে ক্রীড়ায় অংশগ্রহনের মাধ্যমে অনুপ্রেরণার চেষ্টা করছেন মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী। যুব ও ক্রীড়া মন্ত্রণালয়ের মাধ্যমে এই টুর্নামেন্টের জন্য সংশ্লিষ্ট ফেডারেশনগুলোর কাছ থেকে রেফারি ও কোচিং স্টাফ চাওয়া হবে দীর্ঘ মেয়াদী প্রশিক্ষণের জন্য।’ তিনি যোগ করেন, ‘এ বছর ১০টি ডিসিপ্লিন নিয়ে শুরু হচ্ছে। আগামীতে আরও ডিসিপ্লিন যুক্ত হবে।’ চ্যাম্পিয়নশিপের উদ্বোধনী ও সমাপনী অনুষ্ঠান বঙ্গবন্ধু জাতীয় স্টেডিয়ামে অনুষ্ঠিত হবে বলে জানানো হয়। এ বছরের ১৭ এপ্রিল মাসব্যাপী এই টুর্নামেন্ট শেষ হবে।

3500 students to join month-long Bangabandhu Inter-Uni Champs
DHAKA, Feb 27, 2019 – More than 3500 students from 70 public and private universities across the country will join month long “Bangabandhu Inter-University sports Champs 2019” from March 18 as part of birth anniversary celebration of the father of the nation.
The mega sports event will be organized under 10 disciplines – Football, Cricket, Swimming, Athletics, Table Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball, Handball, Cycling and Badminton with the theme of “Let’s build a Bangladesh in cognition of Bangabandhu” Inspired by the ideals of the greatest Bengali of all time.
This is revealed today at a press conference at National Sports council addressed by State Minister of the Ministry of Youth, Mr. Zahid Ahsan Russell, MP, Convener of the advisory committee Mr. Nahim Razzaq, MP, Member Secretary of the advisory committee and the Secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Mr. Muhammad Abdullah, Chief Operating Officer of Polar Ice-cream Mr. Shah Masud Imam.
The event will be opened at Bangabandhu National Stadium on March 18 and the ending will take place on 17th April, 2019 with a students’ parade.
The event will continue for a whole month at the universities across the country. The top three winners of every event will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals respectively and highest gold medal awarded male and female participants will be awarded a “Best University Athlete – Male” and “Best University Athlete – Female” trophies respectively.
Besides, the highest Gold medal winning university will be awarded the “Bangabandhu Inter-University Sports Champs 2019 – Champions” trophy which the winning university will be able to keep for a year. There are arrangements for “Torch Relay” and “Trophy Tour” at all participant universities before the event.
With direction of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and with technical assistance and supervision of ten sports federations with all universities’ participation and with private patronage, Spellbound Leo Burnett – as the event partner, has taken all preparation to complete the event within March 2019 to April 2019.
“Bangabandhu Inter-University Champs 2019” is going to be organized in purposes of society empowerment, skill-development and achieving more excellence in sports, the state minister said.
“Besides the participating students, lakhs of sports-loving students will be confident in building an enriched country with sports madness. Inspired by the ideals of Bangabandhu, in oath of building a drug-free Bangladesh and to build a developed Bangladesh within 2041, we expect that this is going to be a great stage to create the youth as a healthy and hard-working one,” he said.
Nahim Razzaq, MP said on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibar Rahman, this initiative has been taken to build the nation inspired by the ideals and cognitions of him and to keep the vigor and fervor of the youth elevated.
Besides, he said “the main goals and purposes of this event are to abstain the students from antisocial activities like drug addiction and militancy; and to comprise themselves as a sensible and effective patriotic citizen, inspired by the ideals of Bangabandhu – by practicing sports culture.”
