DHAKA, Feb 12, 2020 (BSS)- The torch rally of Bangabandhu Inter-University Sports Championship formally inaugurated today (Wednesday) at Russel Square
in the city’s Dhanmondi.

State Minister for Youth and Sports and Bangabandhu Inter-University Sports Championship organising committee’s chairman Zahid Ahsan Russell formally
inaugurated the rally as the chief guest.

The torch rally, which has begun from today (Wednesday), will end in Dhaka
after touring different universities across the country.

Organised by Youth and Sports Ministry, the Bangabandhu Inter-University
Sports Championship will begin on March 1 in the city’s Hatirjheel with the
participation of all public and private universities and the competition will
conclude on April 18.

Near about 5,800 students from about 100 universities will compete in the
12 events– football, swimming, cricket, athletes, table tennis, basketball,
volleyball, handball, cycling, chess, kabaddi and badminton– of the
championship.

Bangabandhu Inter-University Sports Championship organising committee’s
vice-chairman Nahim Razzak, MP, Youth and Sports Secretary and Bangabandhu
Inter-University Sports Championship organising committee’s member secretary
Akhter Hossain, standing committee member of Youth and Sports Ministry and
Bangabandhu Inter-University Sports Championship organising committee member
Abdullah Al Islam Jakob, MP, and Deputy Inspector General of Bangladesh
Police Habibur Rahman were present, among others, in the torch rally.
