Young activists and students turning up in hundreds at the Awami League's 21st National Council, learned historic facts about the party, thanks to a set of innovative installations featuring its struggle and achievements to change the course of national progress.

Standing out at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan, the structures turned up as “very innovative” and “extraordinary,” as youths were found learning history and taking selfies during the council on Friday.

Centre for Research and Information, (CRI), the ruling party’s research wing, came up with this unique initiative targeting the council, reports BSS.

"Such an innovative portrayal of history seemed very interesting to me. Thanks to this initiative, I came to know of a number of invaluable contributions of this party”, said Ariful Islam Arif, after taking a photo in front of an installation on the historic journey of Awami League.

Another university student Lipi Akhter said this kind of creative depiction is quite unique and really deserve kudos as other parties have failed to present their activities in such a way.

Another key feature of this whole initiative was an interactive session bringing a number of state ministers and party leaders before the young generation to get an understanding on their thoughts regarding politics.

Titled as Let’s Talk on Politics, a signature event of CRI, saw State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam, State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister for Information Dr Murad Hasan, Fazilatunnesa Bappy, MP, and Awami League Publication and Publicity Deputy Secretary Aminul Islam Amin taking part in the discussion moderated by Nahim Razzaq, MP.

They called on the youngsters to help the government realize its vision to be a poverty free developed country by 2041.

"We have so many challenges – be it in poverty reduction or ensuing health and education. We youth want to solve those problems and want to see a prosperous Bangladesh. The event ‘Let’s Talk Politics’ gave us the opportunity to express those views," said Sanjida Khanom, a student, after the discussion session on the sidelines of the council.

"The good news is the government doing promising things. I hope they will keep it up and solve all the other problems," she added.

In one of the corners of event venue, CRI displayed photos of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, his daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and grandson Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed Joy.

At the "Face of Bangladesh Awami League" corner, portraits of Bangabandhu, Sheikh Hasina and the four national leaders of the 1971 wartime government – Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmad, M Mansur Ali and AHM Quamruzzaman – are put up on display.

At the "Road to 21st National Council" board, the party’s history since its birth in June, 1949, was displayed for councillors and guests, while the “Light after Darkness” section depicted the August 15, 1975 assassination of Bangabandhu and most of his family members.

Another significant corner, named “7th March,” portrayed quotes from Bangabandhu’s historic speech delivered at a rally at the then Ramna Race Course ground, now Suhrawardy Udyan, on March 7, 1971.

Activities of the various sub-committees formed after the last council in 2016 and events organized by CRI with Sheikh Hasina and her son Joy, who is also the prime minister’s ICT affairs adviser, were displayed at the “ALBD Regional Footprints” corner.

“Bangladesh Awami League– In front of a Mirror” presented a detailed view of the history of the ruling party.

“A New Era – Part 1” presented the life story of Bangabandhu, and “A New Era – Part 2” will tell the story of his elder daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The “Quotes for Future Leadership” corner presented quotes from different speeches of Bangabandhu and Sheikh Hasina for council attendees.
