MOU SIGNED BETWEEN DU, CLIMATE PARLIAMENT

DHAKA, July 5, 2015 (BSS) – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Dhaka University (DU) and Climate Parliament, UK was signed today for the development of renewable energy sector facing climate issues in Bangladesh.

DU treasurer Prof Dr Md Kamal Uddin and South Asia Regional Director of Climate Parliament Mukul Sharma signed the MoU on behalf of the respective institution.

DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, director of the Institute of Energy (IE) Prof Dr Saiful Haque, project coordinator of the IE, DR SM Nasim Shams, convener of Climate Parliament, Bangladesh, Nahim Razzak, MP, advisor Tanvir Shakil Joy and project coordinator Sumedha Basu, were present, among others, on the occasion.

According to the MoU, DU and Climate Parliament, UK will work together to implement capacity development project titled ‘Strengthening Climate-issues and Access to Renewable Energy’. Climate parliament will organize workshops, meetings and roundtable discussions on renewable energy and will strengthen capacity building activities in this regard.

Prof Siddique thanked the Climate parliament authorities for signing the MoU and hoped that this initiative would play an effective role to promote renewable energy to combat climate change in Bangladesh.
